Sub: [ALOCHONA] Independent Economy: Discover Own Possibilities
Dear Alochoks,
This is certainly the high time to find our own power, own resources, own
possibilities to develop our country. Global economy is getting worst day by
day and that affects our national economy in a very large scale, both macro
and micro level. This is not just a talking forum rather its a forum of some
great thinkers from Bangladesh. Please take some moment to think and throw
your idea to discover new potential area for your country.
Despite many negative image of our country, we cant ignore the progress we
achieved in last 31 years in many sector including technology. We are self
dependent in food production, we achieved around 50% literacy rate,
television, mobile phone, computer reached even to the remote villages.
Compare with our poverty level the enhancement in technological development
is really astonishing!
Poverty is reducing, you can find less street beggar than last two decade.
Booming of garments sector provided jobs to the millions of poor people.
NGOs are working more less to alleviate poverty, to ensure education for the
people in the villages. All these efforts driving us to a 'Silent
Revolution'.
But the progress we achieved in last 31 years should not be stopped at this
level. So, we need to find the way to achieve Economic Independent. Good
signs are appearing as we are trying to reduce our dependency on the begging
money. This is not just because our finance minister asked, but we really
need to change our views to the foreign loan and grants.
Alochoks, garments sector may not add enough foreign currency in 2005. How
we will fight with the trade balance? What is our next booming sector? What
is our NEXT potential sector? IT? Mineral resources? Oil? Gas? Titanium?
Zircon? Who will explore our own possibility? Who will explore the Trillion
dollar 'black gold' lying in Cox's Bazar, Maheshkhali & St Martins Island?
How many people are aware about this potentiality?
