Subject: [ALOCHONA] Attack on Minorities: A personal account
Things are happening. There is no doubt. Those who are in touch with
minority families in Bangladesh can guess the bad smell of injustice going
on with them from last few weeks. I will not go for measuring the amount of
atrocities. But something truly happening and we should not ignore it.
I have personal relation with some minority family who have been suffering
from continuous threat after the election result. None of them are from poor
family. They have a good position in our society and they are not political
activist of any particular party. I will just mention about one family for
your understanding of the situation. His name is Mr Mahendra Kumar. The
gentleman is the owner of two stationary shop in 'Bay Shopping Centre' CEPZ,
Chittagong. He was threatened to give 'Chanda' of 1 lakh from his business
after election result. He failed to give the 'chanda' and as a result last
one month he is in hide away. He didn't disclose this story to many people
and even he didn't go to the police for help. Because he was afraid of
violence against her two daughters. This is a kind of hidden crime. So you
cant expect a proof for this kind of situation. Other places also having
similar kinds of incident.
I urge to the people who are sympathized to the minority:
'Please do not color the incident politically. Political crimes are no crime
in Bangladesh. Please treat them as normal criminal. Let them be punished
with the regular law'
I urge to the people(and offcourse to the Government too) who are denying
the happening:
'Please do not ignore the truth. Open your eyes. Watch out the people who
are afraid of taking help from you. Provide your sympathetic and sincere
hand to them.'
There are always some criminals who take advantages of certain period of
time and our minorities are the sufferer of that time. We must prove our
nation as a progressive nation and show the world that we still have the
cultural and religious harmony across the country. To do that we must build
up the confidence among all religion.
Peace for all,
