Subject: Basic Education for the poor people
Dear Alochoks,
I will tell a personal experience which I feel to share with all the alochoks.
A young girl work in our house to help my mother in the kitchen. She lives with
her family in a slum near our house. Normally she works as part time basis in
the day hours. In the evening she use to go home. But sometimes she dont want
to go home early evening which look abnormal to my mother. After investigating
my sister discovered that her father teaches the childrens of their slum in
some of the evening. When her father teaches to other people she must attend
that class if she stay in home. But she has more interest in television than
education. Thats why some evening she try to avoid the teaching session and
stay at our home until her father finish the class.
I wasn't surprised for her attitude because most of the childrens are afraid of
school and teachers. But I was surprised to hear about her fathers part time
profession. Basically her father's profession is a hawker who sells fruits,
nuts etc. in the day time. In the evening he arrange a teaching session for the
poor childrens of their slum who doesnt have ability to go to school. He take
this initiative by himself. So far I know his education is under SSC. But the
job he took by himself isn't comparable with many other so called higher
educated person like me. I feel ashamed that I did almost nothing for our
people if we compare with this great person.
The lesson I got from him is really great. If we can engage a large number of
minimum educated person to teach their lower grade people, the outcome will be
really big and we dont need to cry to our government to increase schools around
the country. It is an agreeable point that everybody dont need certificate and
we need BASIC EDUCATION for our people.According to goverment our current
literacy rate is around 50% (+/-). But we cant say all these people are
educated. This is literacy rate only. To achieve 100% literacy rate we dont
need to wait half a century if can introduce a system of unofficial teaching
system for the basic education of poor people.
I beleive many alochoks have much better idea than me about this matter. Can I
expect some good idea from my alochok friends?
Peace for all,
