Subject: Re: Election 2001
Dear Alochoks,
Whoever watch Hasina and Khaleda in the Ekushey TV last night, must be
disappointed and afraid of the future of election. None of their face were
looking fair and the attitude they have shown to the caretaker government
did not reflect their Democratic (?) mind. Both of them raise question about
the neutrality of caretaker government indirectly. We, really afraid of
seeing this kind of thing and any optimist can turn to pessimist. We
didnt see this kind of attitude in 1991 and 1996. The time is passing, our
democracy getting matured, but our leaders losing their patient. Seems they
are crazy for power rather than establish a cool democratic system. Peoples
of Bangladesh learn a lot during last 10 years democratic practice. But
politicians didnt learn anything rather they forgot about their past.
I am not worried about the period before election. I am worried about after
situation. WINNER will claim that election was free and fair. The LOSER will
raise question about the neutrality of caretaker government. So instead of
joining parliament they will demonstrate in the street to recover the
"DEMOCRACY" untill next election. Thats the fate of Bangladesh. We couldnt
get rid of this Vicious Circle for a long time.
I hope my forcasting will not come true. And everything will be OK.
Politicians will not play with us anymore. Peace and peace will be
everywhere. Long live our child democracy.
Peace for all,
